We drove from Chiang Rai to Chumphon during the last few days and made a two-day stop in Bangkok.

  1. Stage: Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai = 4 hours by bus, stayed in the best hostel in Chiang Mai so far and had a 1A noodle soup
  2. Stage: Chiang Mai to Bangkok = 12 hours by night train, spent another two days in Bangkok. We stayed in Chinatown, which is very unspectacular during the day but completely transforms in the evening and is a very interesting corner of Bangkok. We also discovered the public buses, which only cost 17 cents per ride and saved us from dealing with taxi and tuk-tuk drivers. We felt like the only tourists using the buses and were often asked about our destination by the ticket sellers on the bus. There are no bus schedules or anything like that, you can only rely on the bus numbers, but sometimes we still ended up going in the wrong direction :) We also realized, for the second time in Bangkok, that it is too hectic and exhausting here. So, quickly heading south.
  3. Stage: Bangkok to Chumphon = 8 hours by bus, we plan to spend about a week here and then hop over to Myanmar, as we are only allowed to stay in Thailand for a maximum of 60 days with our visa.

We are really looking forward to the beach now and will get in touch again in the next city, see you then🤙🏽
