On your bikes and to Schillig

The rain from yesterday has washed everything off the bike paths of the dikes. No leftovers from the sheep, who incidentally were not seen today either.

We cycled against the wind - only using muscle power! In between, the sheep did appear at times. Some were still relatively small wool carriers. At the Woge, a storm surge memorial, we made a stop without rain. It was wonderfully windy and quite warm for East Frisia during this time of year.

Continuing along the coast. Shockingly many Canada geese were frolicking in the pools between the beach and the dike. Perhaps the hunting laws should be changed here. A delicious goose roast on the menu would certainly be helpful. Just before reaching our destination, we came across a dog beach, full of happy four-legged friends with people who were also having a good time. I found many beautiful stones; unfortunately, no chicken god. With a bit of luck, I might return to this beach anyway.

Schillig was only a few minutes away. A circus tent was set up, an ice cream truck was enticing along with a stand offering fish sandwiches and fries, kibbeling, and other fishy treats. For us, there was espresso and the like, plus poppy seed cake.

With a tailwind back to Carolinensiel. This had the advantage that despite the warmth, a relaxed riding feeling emerged. And very quickly we reached the harbor and could visit the memorial which honors those who were buried at sea before Harlesiel-Carolinensiel. Even flowers can be placed there in small and large vases.

And since we were already at the harbor, we quickly enjoyed a fish sandwich with smoked herring and a Hövels beer. This is how another beautiful summer day comes to a close.
