Arriving on a winding, fantastic and apparently popular motorcycle route in nature, we were immediately rewarded with warm sunshine. After dinner, we drove a little deeper into a small forest to protect ourselves from the expected rain. It actually poured all night. In the morning, we were awakened by (presumably) gunshots. Maybe we were also in a hunting area - we didn't quite understand from the Google Translate translation...
Strengthened with delicious porridge, another day started in Tuscany. Unfortunately, we couldn't admire the landscape because the visibility was limited by the dense fog. Instead of getting all our clothes wet on the first day, we visited a shopping center to buy some Italian clothing for Karsi from Doppelgänger. In the evening, we found a quiet place to sleep, where the sun even shone in between. However, it rained off and on, so we set up our tarp and played cards and Yahtzee underneath. When we finally went to bed, there were flashes of lightning and thunder, more or less. Until suddenly there was a very loud, long-lasting boom that was so loud and close that we both panicked and fled to the car. For the first ten minutes, we wondered how the night would continue. Then we decided to partially dismantle our wooden structure to be able to lean the seats back. After about 15 minutes of probability calculations (or rather guessing), we climbed back up into the tent. Both with our eyes open until we were so tired that they closed. We survived the night ;)
Since rain was forecast for the upcoming days and Lotti was still unsure what her foot could handle, we went to San Gimignano and Siena on Monday. In the café, we spontaneously decided to take the ferry from Livorno to Olbia (Sardinia) on the same evening. After we had made up our minds, we had delicious pizza again. The ferry was busier than expected. We recognized many German license plates. However, we found a deserted corner with two sofas where we could spend the night reasonably well - the crossing lasted from 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Arriving in Sardinia, we went straight to the beach. Karsi immediately tested the water. However, since the sun continued to hide behind the clouds, we embarked on the first short hike. Although we should have turned left, we preferred to follow the sound of the water in order to ultimately find a dreamy little oasis where we could bathe in crystal clear, refreshing, and cold spring water. Even a little sunbathing was possible! Our evening sleeping spot by a lake was just right. We enjoyed the evening with music and games.
The next morning, after an unusually long sleep, we started with delicious porridge. We decided to go on a hike to the Gorropu Canyon. An impressive, steep path that led from a mountain pass down to a river and then along two mountain walls with a maximum height of about 880 meters. The tour guide told us that two climbers were taking on the approximately 400 meters for the first time this year (with a difficulty level of 8b) on this day. They must have made it, as we only discovered a climbing rope with a backpack almost at the top. On the way back, we were completely unprepared for rain, so we arrived at the car very soaked after about 2 hours. Nevertheless, it was a very impressive tour that was well worth it despite the rain.
Now we are in the tent after an exciting search for a sleeping spot, with wet clothes hanging on clotheslines around the car. Sweet potato puree and tea quickly helped us warm up again.
