Hursey's Bar-B-Q - Burlington, NC

The first BBQ destination of the day was Hursey's Bar-B-Q in Burlington, NC, also part of the NC BBQ Trail.

I was informed by the staff that they offer a mix of both NC styles. The Burlington location has been around since 1949 and there are now a total of 5 restaurants in and around Burlington. They have also won several awards. When we arrived at the restaurant for lunch, it wasn't very busy. The employees, who were mostly older, were all friendly.

Steffi ordered chicken with hushpuppies, cole slaw, and mac 'n cheese. I decided to have chopped pork, cole slaw, and fried onion rings. After a short wait, everything was served fresh. The sides were all delicious. Steffi's chicken was well-seasoned, but unfortunately, the skin wasn't crispy. I enjoyed the taste of the pork and had already gotten used to the vinegar-based sauce with a hint of spice that was served with it.

BBQ restaurant number 1 out of 4 was successfully conquered that day. Conclusion: You can't go wrong with a stop at Hursey's. I would definitely visit again!
