14.10.18 Around Lunenburg - the Lighthouse Route

شايع ٿيل: 22.10.2018

The night was rather disturbed. The walls in this motel are paper-thin and I couldn't sleep for long periods because someone in the room above me was snoring miserably. The toilet flushes from the neighboring room are so loud that you would think you are under a waterfall. What a crappy place!

At 4°C outside temperature and the beginning of sunshine, we drive over to Tim Hortons after taking some panoramic pictures of Lunenburg. After breakfast, we practically visit all open shops in Lunenburg on Lincoln and Montague Street. This place will always be one of my favorite places in the world. So cozy and cute, such beautiful shops, relaxed people.

At 13:00, we head west and snake along a picture-perfect coastline with beautiful houses in tiny villages. We visit some lighthouses and freeze in the wind - despite the shining sun. Finally, SUN again!

That feels so good! But it won't get more than 11°C. In the afternoon at 16:30, the temperature drops faster than the sun. When we are in Liverpool, we still have 7 or 8°C. Everything is closed at Fort Point Lighthouse, including the toilets. The light is beautiful, the lighthouse too - a few photos and then quickly back to the car. This lighthouse belonged to the so-called "Privateers", which could rather have been called "Pirates", because with the government's tolerance, they attacked enemy boats here and relieved them of their cargo. That's how it was back then... On the way back to town, we pass fire hydrants on Main Street that are painted like little guards. Colorful fish made of paper or plastic hang from the lampposts. A very nice place. We take the boring 103 to Bridgewater, but we don't find a restaurant that suits us and continue to Lunenburg and stop briefly at Zwicker. The store here, which decorates the area with Muskoka Chairs in all colors, is now managed by a Swiss person, with whom we chat for a while as we drive onto his property to admire the beautiful chairs and benches.

At the Grand Banker, we have to wait for a table for almost 30 minutes, and I have a very delicious halibut with a pecan-mustard crust. Super awesome!

At the hotel, I do a pre-final packing and end up with about 22 kg. The pajamas and the rest of the toiletries have to go in now, the backpack will be around 10 kg. That will work. I can't estimate how strict Westjet is.

Today's photo yield was enormous: 170 photos on the small camera, 107 on the big one. The weather was just too beautiful today.

The night is quieter than the last one. The guests who made such a racket yesterday have moved out, and in this apparently almost empty hotel, they booked the two new guests precisely above my room again. Understand that if you can. They know that this house is extremely noisy, and out of a row of about 15 rooms, they put a guest above one of the occupied rooms downstairs.
