Is it really time already? Yes.. our time in New Zealand and on the farm has come to an end and the journey continues. We leave with mixed feelings, as we are excited to see what awaits us in Asia, but also a little sad to leave because we had an incredibly wonderful and exciting time here. Thankfully, the last four weeks went well and we were able to return the family's home and farm safely. Except for a little incident on the last day when a group of little piglets managed to bite a hole in the fence and suddenly 96 piglets were running around the property, exploring. What a mess!! Since it's not that easy to catch 96 pigs, we just let them run and went to check on them again in the dark. Fortunately, they all returned peacefully to their stall to sleep, where it's warm and they have food and water. We were able to put up a new gate in front of it. The next morning, we got up early as we wanted to leave at 8:15 to pick up the family from the airport. While I was doing the final touches in the house, Jonas quickly went to the farm to feed the piglets. At 8 o'clock!!! He discovered that a group of piglets thought they could flood their stall with water and have a huge "pool party" just in time for the family's return. The pigs managed to break their watering station, causing the water to continuously flow out of the drinker and flood the entire stall. Jonas quickly repaired the drinker and used a tractor and shovel to drain most of the water. Then we had no choice but to let the pigs continue their happy party until we returned from the airport. But luckily, Stephi and Alister found it quite amusing, and we were able to clean up the chaos at noon. (No one died, they all passed their swimming test). If you want to see a funny video of this, feel free to reach out to us =)
At this point, we would like to send our warmest greetings and a huge thank you for the amazing time to Stephi, Alister, Mia, Lukas, Philipp, Nicola, Laura, Kat, Oscar, Lotta, Batman, Fluffy, Anna&Elsa, Pinda, Tobi, Clipsy, a flock of sheep, a herd of cows, and the approximately 1500 pigs and piglets. We will really miss you and have all of you and the animals close to our hearts. We will definitely come back one day to visit you. Promise!!
And once again, we have gained a huge experience and an unforgettable memory that we will tell our children about. And once again, I have been reassured that I made the right decision and that this journey is worth every penny, every excitement, every fear, and every day so far!! Whether this will remain the same will be revealed in the next few weeks in Asia ^^
So, now it's time for us to pack our bags after 7 weeks of cold, stench, and pig poop: pack our backpacks, get on the plane, and head straight to Fiji, where we will spend two weeks chilling on the beach, drinking cocktails/beer, and basking in the sun with our bellies exposed=)
Piggy greetings from us to Germany!!!
