On another beach day in Faro, we met a nice and somewhat crazy Canadian who is an artist. He was totally euphoric and incredibly excited about our current lifestyle. He had probably had a few beers, but it's always nice to be approached by such nice and open people while traveling.
After a few more short stops along the southern coast of Portugal (the beaches are all super beautiful and empty), we arrived in Spain again yesterday. We searched for what felt like an eternity for a suitable place to sleep and had already passed a truck with burning hay bales when we were able to enjoy a very luxurious and even free hot shower at a gas station. Such coincidences or twists of fate are like Christmas for us :D
Today we wanted to visit Seville. We were in the beautiful Maria Luisa Park, which also houses the splendid Plaza de España. Seville is really impressive and beautiful in terms of architecture, although the magnificent buildings are largely from a time of intense slave trade and exploitation. Since we couldn't find a parking space anywhere, we could only see the city center from the car. We are now on our way to the southernmost tip of Spain, which is just a stone's throw away from Africa.
Being on the road so much is great and exciting, but also time-consuming and sometimes nerve-wracking. Almost every day, we spend hours looking for a supermarket (we haven't internalized the siesta times when everything is closed yet...), a tap to refill our supplies, or a place to sleep. It is said that in Spain, one should be careful where one sleeps, as the crime rate is quite high. So we either look for free parking spaces or parking lots where, ideally, other campers are also present. But anyway, we only have 4 more days until our next workaway job starts :-)
