Lovely that you accompany me virtually during this trip. I cannot possibly digest experiences like smelly feet in the airplane, cliché pictures and burger-eating Amis on my own. 😊

I got up early. Its hard to differentiate if the reason was the senile bed escape or jetlag. The Hotel is real funky. The sleepy elevator music is replaced by Eminem Rap, everything which is possible is digitally converted and with my gray hair I perfectly blend in with the exception of a small age difference 😉

When Zoe finally got out of bed we went to a real American Diner around the corner, with real American Pancakes and real American Coffee.

The challenge with the coffee was not as expected the strength, but the keenness of the waitress to keep my cup really full.

This was difficult in two ways: First it was barley possible to add milk and sugar. So one tries to elegantly slurp a few gulps by leaving the cup on the table and ensuring not all hair are being dipped into the cup. Then, once you have the perfect mix of Coffee/milk/sugar the lovely attentive waitress flutters to our table to dilute the perfectly mixed coffee again… and everything starts all over again.

Heavy clouds where hanging from the sky and the forecast was wet to very wet. Since the morning was still dry to hoped on a “hop on hop off” bus. It was refreshing to say the least, but worth while. Quite frozen we returned to the Hotel where Zoe took a warm shower and got the color of her toes back to a acceptable level. Then force majeure (lots and lots and lots of rain) struck so that we were forced to do a shopping spree. Macy’s was around the corner, where you can not only spend an afternoon, but a whole winter if needs be. From there we visited the Grand Central Terminal which is really beautiful. From there we walked the 5th Avenue down and Madison Avenue up. Quite exhausted and drained we had dinner at Rosa Mexicano. All one needs is Margarita and Guacamole – and there was plenty of that lovely stuff. (thanks to Jackie for this fantastic tip!)

Back in the hotel I tried to digest all impressions of the day, specifically the lady with the dreadlocks which my grandma could not have knitted nicer accompanied me into my dreams.

Living vicariously through your lens. Glad you had a good but wet day and ending at Rosa Mexicano. Glad the margaritas and guacamole did not disappoint!!
