Anjuna beach

Although the bed is hard, we sleep well and long after the tiring travel day. Breakfast is included in our room rate. At first, there is great confusion among the staff. You can tell that it is not yet the season and no one really knows what is going on. We are given a selection of dishes, which are freshly prepared for us. Delicious food with a view of the sea. We spend the rest of the day in and around the Sunset Restaurant. The sun loungers are free here. Great. I try to convince Kay to explore more beaches in the north... He feels comfortable at Sunset, so we stay there. From here, you can have a good overview of everything... The cows and dogs, Indians who make full use of the water sports program and sometimes jump into the water fully dressed, behaving like little children. Although India is surrounded by water, the countless beaches are mostly used as garbage dumps. What a shame. We meet two nice Indians. We learn a lot of new things about the country during the conversations. For example, every household in India is provided with a free toilet, but most Indians do not have a toilet and therefore do their business on the streets. There are also many campaigns for a clean India. They tell us that even with a top education as a mechanical engineer, they have no chance of finding a job and therefore they will go to Dubai to find work. After we tell them about our taxi dilemma in Chennai, they go out and give us a SIM card. I am overwhelmed by their kind gesture. We already feel much better here and our hotel room doesn't seem so bad anymore. A clean bed is essential! However, I would not recommend Anjuna as a dream destination/travel destination:

• Drugs are sold on every corner.
• The beach is swallowed by the tide between 11 pm and 11 am.
• There is never any peace, someone is always trying to sell something.
• The color of the sand is brown/black.
• The dogs can be dangerous.
• The cows do their business on the beach...
• The party crowd leaves glass bottles on the beach, which break and cause cuts on the feet.
