Today we are visiting the village of Fjällbacka, which is a locality in the Swedish province of Västra Götaland County and the historical province of Bohuslän. The village, located in the municipality of Tanum, is situated on the Riksväg 163, about 130 kilometers north of Gothenburg and approximately 25 kilometers from the Norwegian border. Fjällbacka is one of the well-known tourist destinations on the Swedish West Coast, as the steep walls of Vetteberg form the Kungsklyfta rift, where parts of the film Ronja the Robber's Daughter were shot. Ingrid Bergman regularly vacationed on the island of Dannholmen in front of Fjällbacka. After her death, her ashes were scattered there. At the main square near the harbor, there is a monument with a bust of the sculptor Gudmar Olofsson. On the island of Dannholmen, you can take a boat trip and in the middle of the greenery, there is still a cottage that is owned by the Bergman family. We think Fjällbacka is a must-visit, so make sure to plan some time if you are traveling along the West Coast.
