Norway trip May 26 - June 17, 2022 / June 15

Today we're hitting the road again with the beautiful view, heading down to Mäloy, where we'll take the car ferry to Oldeide, about 20 minutes away. We'll drive along various beautiful mountains and fjords, such as the Sognefjord. In Sunde, which is also located directly on the Sognefjord, we have booked our lovely accommodation for the next night. We can watch two sea eagles circling around at the Sognefjord. The Sognefjord is the longest and deepest fjord in Europe, ranking second in the world. It branches out into many smaller tributaries, such as the Auerlandsfjord, the Lustrafjord, or the Naerofjord. There is an underwater rock threshold in front of the fjord's mouth, which allows only the warm surface water from the Gulf Stream of the North Sea to flow into the fjord. As a result, the climate is generally mild and allows extensive fruit cultivation, especially on the north bank. We will end this impressive day with a fine dinner and a game of Jass.
