Actually, the plan was to cross the border on a racing bike, especially since the area is very scenic and, above all, challenging for cycling. During the night it rained and the clouds settled in the mountains. The weather improvement predicted by the weather app shifted every hour.
So I traveled to Portugal together with Louise and Della. We headed for the village parking lot of Soajo. The road there was rather narrow, but when a truck with a trailer drove past at a lookout point, it was clear that it would be good enough for us. In addition to cars, there were always cows, goats or sheep on the road.
The rainy weather made it easy for us to get a parking space. Unfortunately, the clouds didn't move on until late in the afternoon, so we were at least able to explore the village, which is well worth seeing, and got dry-shod to the restaurant.
According to Della, the restaurant opened at 6:30 p.m. and he wanted to be there on time since we hadn't reserved a table. So we arrived at the restaurant at 6:28 p.m. together with the employees of the restaurant. They had a table for us but asked for a little patience until they were ready... ;-)
We opted for a traditional beef dish which was delicious, as was the cheesecake for dessert and the house brandy.
