At 9 o'clock we were seated in the taxi to the pier, from where our ferry to Georgetown/Penang departed at 10:30. We covered the 120km in just over 3 hours... luckily the sea was calm!
The city consists of countless small streets and even smaller alleys, and the fastest way to travel is probably on foot. Nora and I still need to find a compromise because she unfortunately doesn't enjoy walking 😄
In the afternoon, we took a small tour and let ourselves be enchanted by the lively atmosphere of the city. Street musicians and spontaneous dance performances, food stalls and delicious smells, bicycles and tricycles. Everything blends together and exudes a special charm.
In the evening, on the recommendation of the hotel, we went up to Penang Hill. This is a mountain on the outskirts of Georgetown that offers a beautiful view of the city. You can take a train up, and it has the steepest incline in the world at 28 degrees! It's a pity that it was already dark when we went up, the journey must be spectacular. I just looked it up on Google :)
At the top, we treated ourselves to dinner at a restaurant, and we were finally back at the hotel by 10 pm. That's enough for today :)
