Day 9 Gyeongju

Опубликовано: 03.04.2018

Today we took the high-speed train to the southeast of the country. We went to Gyeongju, the former capital of the ancient Silla Kingdom, which was once called Korea. The first place we visited was Daereungwon (Cheonmachong Tomb Complex). In this park, there are 23 ancient royal tombs gathered. Unfortunately, the only accessible tomb was closed for renovation. After a break, we went to Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond (Anapji) in the evening and visited an ancient observatory. We also had the chance to experience a special Korean characteristic today: waiting for a table at a restaurant. We wanted to eat at a restaurant that has been famous for its Bibimbap for over 90 years. Unfortunately, being famous also means being crowded, so we had to wait in line. We finally got our food as number 192, and they would have stopped serving after number 200. The restaurant closes once they can't cook anymore, no matter how early or late it is.
