День 29: Кулинарный урок в Кейп-Косте

After a delicious breakfast with bread, jam, mango, banana, pineapple, cucumber, and tomato, we set off for Cape Coast. Three hours later, we were already sitting on the beautiful beach enjoying our waffle with exotic fruits and chocolate ice cream. The sea here is much cleaner because people don't use it as a toilet or garbage dump. However, you can't swim here: the waves can be up to 2 meters high and the undertow can be deadly. But it's no problem to go up to your knees at the very edge. The water is extremely warm! It looks like paradise - the sea, the palm trees, the beautiful beach. You can watch the men fishing, especially when they gather up the nets and everyone in the village helps.

At around 3 PM, we went to a cooking class with the organization Global Mamas. We prepared fufu (cassava, plantain) with groundnut sauce (peanut), redred (bean stew with fried plantain), and yam (root) with pelavasauce (spinach, pumpkin seeds). It took a long time to cook these three dishes - we didn't start eating until 6:30 PM. It was a lot of fun and the food was delicious! But now that I know how to prepare African dishes, I'm afraid to eat too much of it🙈 We used a whole bottle (500ml) of palm oil for cooking!😱

Later, Kobi (the owner of the Natural Bamboo Village accommodation) picked us up and took us to the sleeping place. He built the accommodation himself and has been welcoming guests from all over the world for three years. What wasn't so clear from the description is that Kobi is a Rastafarian and fully embraces this lifestyle😅 There was a bonfire and something to drink, and we sat outside on the sand until late at night, enjoying the stars and the full moon and the sound of the sea. Kobi and his friends also played the drums and sang for us.
