When we arrived at our campsite in complete darkness after the ferry ride last night, we had no idea where we were. In the morning, we were greeted with a pleasant surprise. We are located between a 16th-century Ottoman castle and the lighthouse, with a great view of Saranda, Ksamil, and Corfu.
After an entertaining conversation with two young women who joined us at night, we set off on our way. We want to make it to northern Albania today. Given the average pace here, we need to start early. Either the roads are bad, blocked by selfishly parked vehicles, or they have annoyingly low speed limits. Sometimes a cyclist rides in the opposite direction on the highway, or an ox cart turns onto it. It can be quite interesting or funny at times, but also time-consuming and especially dangerous! As a road user, one must always stay focused.
In the afternoon, we arrive at Lake Shkodër in the rain. But then it clears up, and we can still swim in the lake under the sunshine.
