Trip to the volcano

A few days ago, we set out to get as close as possible to the volcano from the north side. The first two pictures were taken somewhere between the volcano and the coast. Construction work is already underway to build a road through or on top of the cooled lava, in order to establish a direct connection to the southern part of the island again. Afterwards, we drove east to get even closer to the volcano. We made it right up to a cooled lava flow. The area seemed very deserted, with empty houses everywhere, and everything was still covered in a thick layer of sand, except for the partially cleared roads.
