San Miguel de Tucumán

On Saturday morning around 3:30 am, I took a taxi to the bus terminal after a terrible night. The bus was over an hour late. I arrived in Tucumàn at around 1:30 pm under 37 degrees of heat. There I was warmly greeted by a woman. The woman is the niece of my grandmother's cousin. I didn't know the family at all before, only from stories and only when I announced that I wanted to travel to Argentina. In March of this year, my grandmother's cousin visited the family and talked about me. As a result, the mother opened a WhatsApp group titled "Welcome Clara" and asked me if I wanted to visit them.

Right from the start, she talked to me in a very relaxed way, so I immediately felt comfortable. The family lives in a huge apartment. The grandmother has an apartment 6 floors above the family's apartment, also huge. For lunch, we had 3 courses: Empanada, curry-pineapple casserole, fruit salad. Shortly afterwards, everyone suddenly got up and went to sleep 😂. It was only in the family that I really understood how life in Argentina works. There is breakfast, lunch, siesta (2-3 hours of sleep), snack, and dinner at 9:00-10:00 pm. I had a feeling that Argentinians do nothing but eat 😄.

In the evening, the oldest daughter and the mother showed me the city and we had a lemonade in a pretty hotel. At night, the father took us to a friend of the oldest daughter, where we had dinner. The girls talked really fast, but always included me in the conversation. I actually understood everything, but it was hard for me to participate in the conversation because everything was incredibly fast.

The next day, we had lunch at the grandmother's apartment. The "grandmother" knows my grandparents and can speak a little German because she lived in Germany for a while. Just before the snack, they showed me a very rich and green part of the city and the private university where the children study, as public schools and universities in Argentina are very bad.

In the evening, I went out for dinner with the three daughters.

On Monday, I continued my journey at 8:00 am.

I really enjoyed the weekend because I learned even more about the life of Argentinians. But also because the family was really warm and interested in me. I didn't have to organize anything for a weekend, had my own bed with air conditioning, a clean shower, and could do my laundry. I would love to invite the family to the Palatinate region because they were so eager to show me everything and make me feel comfortable. I would also really like to travel to Germany. However, Europe is incredibly expensive for Argentinians at the moment due to the economic crisis and almost impossible.
