Day 2
This morning we got up at 6:30 in rather cold temperatures. When we went to breakfast, we realized that the ground was frozen.
After breakfast, we continued laying pipes. Two more employees, Furges and Paul, arrived around noon.
In the evening, we had another great dinner.
The problem with the flies has been resolved. No new ones came.
Day 3
Today it was slightly warmer, still below five degrees, but still pleasant. We continued our work, nothing special happened, just securing the hoses for the underfloor heating. But we always had the same awesome view.
Day 4
Today it was pleasantly warm again. The work went on as usual until noon, but then there was a bottleneck because the area was not yet prepared as the steel grid was missing. However, it arrived in the early afternoon, so we could continue and finish the work.
Afterwards, we returned to Blenheim and got in the car.
The work was fun, especially seeing how a underfloor heating is installed, and the surroundings were beautiful.
However, I didn't really feel challenged because I often had nothing to do and had to wait for instructions, and on the other hand, I was often sent around to fetch different things, almost like a dog. If this is how apprentices feel, I don't want to do it again. Besides, Mike's attention-seeking behavior quickly got on my nerves, even though he was a super nice guy otherwise. Paul was pretty nice, just like Fergus. In the end, it turned out to be much better than I initially expected and I had a lot of fun. Escaping the typical life in the car and driving to the vineyard every day felt almost like a school trip.
What I will miss is the damn good food, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I haven't eaten as well as this week since I left home. The damn beautiful surroundings, the mountains are simply beautiful, as is the air. It was also good to have a roof over my head and some space again, as I have been living in the car for almost five months now. Since the
