'Couch'surfing on Magnetic Island

Опубликовано: 31.10.2016

After I was in Cairns, I took the Greyhound bus south, down the east coast. I made a stopover in Mission Beach. There I met up with 2 girls that I had met at the hostel in Cairns. The next day, I went directly to Magnetic Island, an incredibly beautiful island. Many wild koalas live there and (as it should be) breathtaking beaches. Since all the hostels on the island were fully booked because of some Fullmoon Party in some hostel.. I decided to try out 'couchsurfing'. I have to say, I will definitely do it again! I stayed on a boat during the three days. The owner of this boat was Fred, he didn't want to reveal his age, I guess he's around 60. Since I knew that another girl was couchsurfing there at the same time, I sent a request to Fred. It was really three exciting days! I slept on the boat under the open sky, the toilet was also the shower and there was only electricity at certain times. Fred showed us the whole island, we were at beautiful bays and looked for koalas in the eucalyptus trees. In the evenings, there was freshly caught fish. We also met all his Australian friends, who came in their dinghy in the morning for coffee. All in all, three eventful days!
