Malaysia - KL & CH

After our one-month stay in Thailand, which went by too quickly, we continued to Malaysia. We spent 11 days here. Malaysia was actually added to our travel itinerary spontaneously at the end of the planning, but we are more than happy about it. Malaysia was great and compared to Thailand, it was also very civilized - unfortunately, it was also a bit more expensive, which was noticeable in the accommodation, food, and drinks. But Malaysia is quite different from Thailand in other ways as well. Malaysia is heavily influenced by Indian culture. This means there are many Hindu temples, good Indian food, supermarkets, and Little India neighborhoods everywhere. However, Malaysia falls short in terms of friendliness and the people compared to Thailand.

In Malaysia, we first visited the capital city with its highlights, the Petronas Twin Towers, the Menara KL Tower, and the Batu Caves. After KL, we continued to the Cameron Highlands. This is a highland area with lush green tea plantations. We spent a few days here, admired the beautiful tea plantations, and went on some jungle treks. It was also a welcome stop for us as we could cool down a bit there. In the highlands, the temperatures are always 'only' around 20°C or cooler, which allowed us to wear long pants for the first time during our trip.

During one of our jungle treks, we also tested how rainproof our rain gear is when we got caught in a heavy rainstorm in the middle of nowhere and still had the whole way to our hostel ahead of us. Conclusion: Everything has its limits and a warm shower after such a trip is priceless :-)
