2nd Day in Ottawa

Publicat: 23.12.2019

Although I have already mentioned it a few times, my second day in the capital of Canada definitely broke all previous low temperatures. According to the weather app, the day started with -23 degrees, but due to a freezing wind it felt like -27 degrees. However, since the sky was bright blue and the sun was shining, I wanted to make use of the day.

I went to the Rideau Falls with two girls. Compared to the Montmorency Falls in Quebec, these were of course very small, but still beautiful to look at. The two waterfalls are separated by a small island, Green Island. The Rideau River flows into the Ottawa River here.

Afterwards, we walked to the other side of the river and strolled through Jacques-Quartier Park. As mentioned in the previous post, we were now in the province of Quebec, as we had crossed the water. We walked back over the "Alexandra Bridge" and then warmed up.

The ByWard Market is a business district in the heart of downtown. It is known for its open-air farmers' market on warmer days. We then went into the shops, where all sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables were still being sold, as well as many souvenirs, handicrafts, and of course, not to forget: the legendary Canadian maple syrup.

In the evening, there was an attraction on Parliament Hill: the buildings were brightly lit and a kind of short film with great music was played.
