Mt. Kosciuszko

We embark on a 5-hour journey to the highest mountain on the continent (2228 m), Mt. Kosciuszko. We reach the national park of the same name shortly after 1 pm. The village of Thredbo is our starting point. A small sleepy village that relies solely on tourism and is probably very busy in winter, but seems deserted when we arrive. The prices are accordingly high for a tourist place.. even in the off-season. We take the chairlift and set off. Before I came to Australia, I never thought I would find snow and ice here. In addition, it is quite cold due to the additional wind. But the view here is very beautiful. Since the last chairlift goes down at 4 pm, we have to hurry. When we are halfway to the summit, a massive cloud moves over the mountain and we decide to only go a little further due to the visibility. Also, the time is already very advanced and we do not want to walk down to the valley. We catch the lift and descend to the foot of the mountain. We drive for another 2 hours towards Canberra and sleep at a rest area. It was the coldest night and we even had to scrape the car the next morning.
