Bye, bye Melbourne - KW 48

Publicat: 30.11.2018

On Monday I worked first. However, I could only work for 4 hours because Ben and I were invited to dinner. My aunt arrived in Melbourne on Sunday and we were invited to dinner with her friends in St. Kilda in the evening. Ulrike even brought Christmas presents from our family, which we were very surprised but also very grateful for. The food with a view of St. Kilda Pier was very delicious and very beautiful. I recommend everyone to try the 'Sticky Date', very very tasty. A type of cake that tastes especially delicious when dipped in caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. On the same day, Karen and Emma bought a car. They will be going on a road trip to Sydney from Friday.

On Tuesday my work was unfortunately canceled again. I used the time intensively to pack and bake with Ben. Afterwards, I spent time with my aunt again. We went to St. Kilda Pier and flew the drone. In the evening, Ben had his last day of work. He came home very happy and excited for the next few days.

On Wednesday I was able to work all day. In the evening, we did some organizational things again. For example, we sold my bike, which made me very happy.

On Thursday our last day in Melbourne arrived. I worked in the morning. Since it wasn't very busy, I was able to take many photos of the restaurant. I also had the chance to take some pictures of things from the Baths cookbook. After 4 hours, it was time for me to go home. It felt so weird to drive the way for the last time, to change for the last time, and to see everyone for the last time. Everyone was very nice and we felt very comfortable. The Baths is also very beautiful behind the scenes.

At that time, those who work there did not know that Ben and I were going to quit. We quit in the evening through the work platform. Actually, it's not our style to quit like this, but we were afraid that we wouldn't get any more shifts. At home, we were able to sell the other bike and the helmets. Gumtree works really well. The last things were packed, the last meal was cleaned up, and then it was already bedtime.

On Friday it was time to get up early, get dressed, clean up the last things, say goodbye, and take the train to Southern Cross Station. At this point, thanks again to our roommates. Karen, Emma, and Marie, we wish you all the best in Australia, we keep our fingers crossed that everything will go well, and we are looking forward to seeing you in Old Germany.

When we arrived at Southern Cross Station, we took the Skybus to the airport. About 4 months ago, I drove the way the other way around without a specific plan. Strange feeling. Time flew by in Melbourne and I am proud to say that everything worked out in Melbourne as desired. When we arrived at the airport, we immediately found our gate. The whole airport was decorated with Christmas decorations, which created a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, our flight was slightly delayed, but we are vacationers with plenty of time now. So it didn't bother us at all.

I will no longer write weekly, but from place to place now. We will be spending the next few days in Cairns and are looking forward to about 40 degrees of sunshine. Summer greetings from Cairns at this point.
