Chefchaouen is a small city in northern Morocco with about 50,000 inhabitants in the Rif Mountains. The name means 'two horns' and refers to the two mountain peaks of the Rif Mountains that can be seen from the city.
The entire old town with its narrow streets, small squares, and many houses is painted in blue and white. The blue color is said to protect against the evil eye.
Who would have thought that our hotel was fully booked and had no rooms available for us when we arrived in the evening, despite having a reservation?! No matter what problem you have, in Morocco, you can find people on the street who are willing to help you for a small fee, whether it's parking, finding your way, carrying luggage, or even looking for accommodation. It was the same in this situation. Two men found a vacant apartment for us with an acquaintance. You get the feeling that people in the city all know each other and help each other to rip off as many tourists as possible. However, when you have a problem, you are still grateful for their help.
