We actually wanted to go hiking in the Triglav National Park today. But 30 degrees already early just before 10 o'clock and not a single cloud in the sky stopped us. Too glaring!🫠🥵
We then quickly got into the car and drove to the Postojna Caves. There, you could expect 25 degrees cooler. And we had that on our 'bucket list' anyway.
Even during peak season, we made it through well.
No problem finding a parking space and off to buy tickets. Everything excellently organized, not exactly cheap (32€/ticket), but truly worth it. And the entrance is really worth it.
Until the departure of the cave train 🚇(we are still train lovers at heart) we still had a good hour left. So another delicious Lasko...
Punctually, as the DB can only dream of in its wildest dreams, we then went into the second-largest stalactite cave in the world. A fresh 10 degrees🥶
Already after the first few meters, we were overwhelmed by the bizarre rock formations and especially by the size of the cave. Amazing. 😯😲
Here, nature shows again who is 'the boss'. The 30cm high columns are about as old as the pyramids... and it was said that they were too small.
The cave was also the backdrop for 'Winnetou II'.🪶
After a 15-minute train ride, we then wandered through the cave for 1 hour. Really impressive. Truly astonishing, a spectacle of nature.
Then it was back out with the train and the temperature rose again.
Afterwards, we drove to the next town to the Predjama castle. Although we didn't go inside, we had a wonderful panorama of the castle while enjoying a small snack of calamari and porcini mushrooms.
Somehow, 'The Lord of the Rings' came to mind.🧙🏻♂️
Then we drove back to Bled in the meantime at 35 degrees and, thanks to the GPS, managed to avoid the traffic jam in front of Ljubljana somewhat.
Punctually at 7 PM, we then went to dinner at our neighbor's 'Old Bled Cellar', which was once again very good.
The wine, by the way, is not from bad Slovenians.🍷
Tomorrow a little cooler...
Stay tuned
