Working or something like that

Publicat: 11.09.2016

Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to write, the problem is not that nothing happened but that too much happened. I'll try to put everything into words for you :)

First, this week was our first real week of work at school. We were warned that it would be very noisy and chaotic, and I couldn't estimate it very well. It was good for us that we had been to school a few times last week.

The lessons are tiring, but they're incredibly fun! We had a hard time finding topics for the 2nd and 3rd grade because we didn't know how far they were.

Our decision to repeat simple, individual words turned out to be right. For example, we sang the song 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes' with the 3rd grade, and then we let them write the words in English on a drawn person, where the Spanish words were in the right place. (What a sentence... I hope you understood what I meant..) So it's actually a very 'easy' exercise and even that was too difficult for some, which of course could also be due to our explanation in broken Spanish.

The Spanish is slowly but surely getting better. Especially when you want to teach the children English terms, you also need the Spanish word for it. The children also make a great effort to teach us Spanish and everyone else supports us. Once we helped with reading in the 2nd grade, the children started teaching us vocabulary based on the pictures.

We're slowly settling into the house. :)

There is a cooking and cleaning schedule that really simplifies living together. It's really nice that we have lunch and dinner together. Of course, we also cook ourselves.

Yesterday we went out to celebrate. It should be mentioned that it's a bit different here than in Germany.

While in Germany 'going dancing' is more of a (hopefully) rhythmic moving and hopping around, here it is common to dance 'properly'. This means two, preferably man and woman, dance together and it's not about disco fox, but about tango and salsa.

I don't know exactly what the dance I did is called, but it was incredibly fun. Everyone made a lot of effort to show us the dances and I'm looking forward to learning more.

But now I'm going to continue learning Spanish... ;)
