On Sunday, it finally went to the next city...
We went to Pai, and specifically with the scooter.
I met Caroline and Marco at AYA at 10 o'clock sharp. I had met them at the cooking class. AYA offers a scooter rental where you can leave the scooter in Pai. The plan was to only ride to Pai with the scooter and spend 2 nights at the Circus Hostel there. In advance, I was told that Pai is the Amsterdam of Thailand. The place where all backpackers go. So off we went with the 125cc scooter...Into the mountains...
The fuel costs 70 cents or so...
And as soon as we were up in the mountains, the monsoon rain started... So we stopped at the nearest café and waited for half an hour. Unfortunately, this happened to us 2 times on the way. It was a total of 130 km and 3.5 hours with 2 breaks.
The ride was so beautiful, the view, the landscape... Simply breathtaking.
And you also get used to driving on the left and the Thai driving style. Overtake on the left or right, wherever there is space 😎
You can pay attention to traffic lights, but you don’t have to, and traffic signs are more to be admired than followed 😂😂😂
Let's just say... I'm still alive 😂😂
Arriving in Pai, we went straight to the hostel. And yes... Only crazy people here...
It's more like a festival, all the party, people who only wanted to stay for one night and have been stuck here for a week. Everything is very relaxed, but I definitely wanted to stay for only 2 nights.
In the evening, there was a 'Family BBQ'. It was more like an all-you-can-eat Thai food, but I got to talk to so many people and everyone got a chance to play some music, and since Germany is known for its electronic dance music, I had to join in. We played pool and partied until late at night.
I made a deal with Caroline to keep the scooter for one more day and explore Pai and the mountains. There are plenty of waterfalls, hot springs, and viewpoints here.
So on Monday morning, after breakfast, we set off.
First, we went to see a huge Buddha, then Pai Canyon with a great view. Then the first waterfall, endless rice fields, and another waterfall where you could swim.
The day was simply amazing, and I enjoyed so many breathtaking views. So I decided to keep the scooter for a third day and drive back to Chiang Mai alone.
I abandoned the plan to go to the next city, Chiang Rai, and instead booked a flight to Phuket. We're heading there on Wednesday. I finally need some beach... I finally want to go diving and relax.
Thailand... A different plan every day...
This saying is so fitting again 😎 That's the best thing about this vacation, you are incredibly flexible and every day is different, and all the people you meet have just as (un)planned 😂
