The sun peeks through the clouds and we start early towards Jasper National Park because there is a lot to see along the way.
Our first short hike takes us to Rearguard Falls located on Yellowhead Hwy. The Fraser River plunges about 6 meters here over a width of 18 meters. It is an impressive spectacle that can be observed from various platforms and directly from the water. The Chinook salmon (the largest Pacific salmon) fight their way through these falls on their 1200 km journey - unbelievable!
Next stop is at the entrance of Mount Robson NP. The mountain is the highest in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 meters. A friendly camper who watches our efforts for a self-timer photo on the hood spontaneously offers his help.
Just a few kilometers further, a hiking trail leads to Overlander Falls. Here too, it is the immense water masses of the Fraser River that rush past us with a loud roar.
In the afternoon, we have a hike planned at Maligne Canyon. The trail leads over several bridges along steep canyons with turquoise shimmering glacier water. A spectacularly beautiful tour!
After settling into our bungalow, we enjoy a cold beer by the campfire. The kids go to bed and on a short wilderness tour, we discover a magnificent Wapiti bull by the roadside.
