Bali at its best.

Bali at its best - today we were awakened for the first time by bright sunshine. Even though we have been really lucky with the weather in the past two days, as it only rained briefly - despite the rainy season - it has always been quite cloudy. Which doesn't mean it wasn't extremely hot and humid.

After the great vegan and gluten-free breakfast - *gag* - it was time to say 'Goodbye' to the Tarzan Room in our previous accommodation at Serenity Eco Guesthouse - which, by the way, is a Smoke and Alcohol free Zone - and 'selamat datang' to the Coworking Surface at Surfing Nomads. We accidentally discovered this little 'Villa' yesterday while looking for a new accommodation. It seems to be a hidden gem, as it is currently not listed on booking.com, Google Maps, and other sites. Let's see if we can meet some nice people here. We have decided to keep our length of stay open for now.

After moving, we went straight to the beach. We wanted to try surfing for the first time - and do it on our own. So we rented a board from one of the beach stands, put on our swimsuit or neoprene shirt, and after a few dry exercises on the beach, we headed into the water. And what can I say - we are born surfers ... not :D

Already when paddling out - which we never imagined to be so exhausting - we were pulled off the board by some waves. Despite our best efforts, we didn't feel like we were getting any further out into the ocean where the surfable waves were waiting for us - very frustrating. However, a few waves did reach us, so Lisa managed to stand up once or twice, and I took two more waves lying down than standing up. After two rounds, we were physically exhausted and are sure that we will have sore arms and a few bruises tomorrow.

The logical consequence of our morning efforts was, of course, a massage - what else. Two sweet Balinese ladies spoiled us with a foot and back massage for an hour for the equivalent of €6.50. What more could you want?

After cooling off in the pool, we wanted to take advantage of the cloudless weather and went to the beach to watch the sunset. Then a short detour to old man's - a popular local beach bar. There we met Ical, a 21-year-old Indonesian who is staying with friends for a few days and then moving on. That's how we got our first ride on a scooter. Ical didn't want to miss the opportunity to make sure we got to our accommodation safely. So the three of us squeezed onto his scooter and off we went. Tomorrow we might do something with him and his friends. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
