07.01.2022 The last day with my love and the children

Publicat: 08.01.2022

On the last day, we did something with the children. We drove to downtown Belém and first visited the restaurant 'Point do Açai', where we ordered a mixed plate with fish and poultry, as well as an additional plate with meat. Two bottles of açai were, of course, obligatory. There was so much to eat that even with five people, we couldn't finish it all. We actually wanted to take the rest for the children, but on the way to the car, we saw a father sitting in the park with his two children and gave them our food. They immediately pounced on the food, as they seemed very hungry. It's a great feeling when you can help!

Our next destination was the small fort (Forte do Predépio), an old defensive fortress. There was also a small museum here that told a part of the history of the indigenous people and their missionary work.

Then we visited the small zoo (Mangal das Garças) and the old lighthouse (Farol de Belém). The zoo is a paradise for animals, almost all animals can roam freely here. There were, for example, flamingos, herons (Garças), and an extra house with butterflies (Borboletário do Mangal das Garças).

The zoo is often used by the residents of Belém for photo shoots for so-called pregnancy parties, i.e. a party is held here as soon as a woman is pregnant, then friends and relatives are invited and small gifts are given to the pregnant woman. Then the couple goes to the park with a photographer and pictures are taken of the pregnant woman. A very nice idea!

Déby's godmother had also agreed to take the children today and they could also sleep at her place today. Then we dropped off the children at her house and spent the rest of the quiet evening just the two of us at home.
