6 martie 2020, excursie cu familia Carlottei

Publicat: 26.03.2020

Today is Independence Day in Ghana and usually there are very big celebrations in Accra on this day. There are many street parties and parades, especially with schools marching. But this year everything is different. Since the President wants to move the capital from Accra to Kumasi, all the celebrations took place in Kumasi. In the morning, Carlotta's cousin and her friend picked us up and we still went to Accra, because we couldn't imagine that there would be no celebrations at all in Accra, but unfortunately it was really dead. So we quickly had to come up with a Plan B and decided to go to a park. There we could do a Canopy Walk and climb in a small climbing forest. It was a lot of fun, but sometimes it was really challenging because the climbing elements were very difficult even for beginners, and it was also pretty exhausting in the heat. In the park, we also took a canoe ride on a small lake and even saw a crocodile. By the way, I totally forgot to fasten my seatbelt at the beginning, because I'm not used to it anymore, and it was very relaxing to have air conditioning in the car. However, the shock was always even greater when getting out, because after a while you always had the idea that the temperatures outside were the same as in the car. After we were totally exhausted from climbing, we decided to go to the beach. It was very crowded because of the holiday, but we found a relatively quiet spot to sit. Carlotta and I both swam here for the first time, which was pretty cool in the waves. However, we were only allowed to swim in a designated area, which was relatively small for the amount of people. As soon as you went even one meter beyond this area, it was immediately made clear to you with annoying whistles. But despite all that, the day was really nice, and in the evening we ate our dinner outside on the balcony and watched the bats. But it was relatively chilly because it got windier and I even got a little cold. Then we imagined how nice it would be to snuggle up at home or just wear a sweater when it's cold and wet outside. Sometimes you do miss "the cold" after all.
