After 3 nights, we are moving on today. However, right at the beginning, we encountered the first problem. The automatic garage door no longer opens. So we had to manually lift the door to pack the car. Quickly, we stored the rent in the freezer and off we go.
Today, our journey takes us to Snells beach, passing Auckland to the east coast. It's actually a 3.5-hour trip. But we decided to take a 3-hour detour and visit the Hot Water Beach.
That was really cool. Armed with a shovel, we walked down the beach.
Beautiful sunshine, blue sea, and a beach with numerous holes where people sit and lie down.
After a while, we released a small stream again.
💡At the "Hot Water Beach," thermal water emerges. About 2 km below the Earth's surface, there are approximately 170 °C hot rock layers that heat up the cold groundwater. It emerges with a temperature of about 60-65 degrees, only during the 1-2 hour low tide period, at the beach edge. This time we were lucky. We were at the right place at the right time. But unfortunately, an hour goes by so quickly.
We quickly washed off the sand in the sea (brrrrr, the sea was cold) and continued.
We arrived in Auckland just in time for the rush hour (Friday afternoon) and joined the traffic jam at the back.
We lost about 40 minutes. After 9 hours, we reached our new accommodation.
Wow, what a great room,
great house,
and the view.
