SYDNEY TIME

Publicat: 01.01.2017

Since I've been back in the big city life, I hardly find time to write, as you can tell. It's really stressful here xD. The flight from Melbourne went well. Somehow everything happened so quickly, as soon as you were at the airport, you were already in Sydney. We had some difficulties with the luggage (especially me)... It's not just the space problem (okay, somehow it is), but especially the weight problem! So, of course, we had to repack at the airport... Well, this could be interesting! I definitely have to come up with something for Perth.

We arrived in Sydney in the evening, so on the first day, we just went shopping and went to bed.

The next day it was clear: first of all, we had to go to the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House... we want to see that we are really in Sydney. And you are really impressed when you see the two landmarks for the first time (at least I was). I didn't imagine both to be that impressive. We used the rest of the day for a walk through the city and visited, among other things, the Botanical Garden. The first impression of Sydney was definitely great.

After that, on the second day, we went on a 3-hour "Free Walking Tour" through Sydney. Students from Sydney offer this for free to introduce tourists to the city and its history. It should be mentioned that it's over 35°C every day here in the city. That's why everything is a bit more exhausting... Nevertheless, it was very interesting and we definitely got to know the city in a more relaxed way. In the evening, we ticked off another "must-do" in Australia: a visit to the Sydney Opera House. Whoever was in Sydney must have visited the opera house. However, we didn't watch an opera, but a circus of acrobats, which was really impressive. As per our "low-budget principle", we chose the cheapest tickets in the last row, but we could still see wonderfully - a praise to the architect!

On the third day, we went to Bondi Beach - the beach in Sydney. Unfortunately, the weather didn't play along... it was hot, but cloudy and muggy. Not the perfect weather for a day at the beach. But we wanted to do the famous "Bondi-to-Coogee" walk... a 6 km walk along the coast. On the way, we stopped at the "Iceberg", because according to my travel guide, you should go swimming there. It is an outdoor pool right by the sea with a view of Bondi Beach. Certainly very nice in sunny weather... not so great in the rain. Nevertheless, I couldn't resist swimming my laps, after all, this was a must according to my travel guide. Since Jozy is a bit cold, we stopped the walk after half. In drizzly weather and humid heat, everything wasn't as impressive as it probably should have been.

And we've already done a few more coastal walks xD. After that, we just wandered around the city a bit and had something to eat in our favorite scene district Newtown (it's near our AirBnB apartment). Tomorrow is already the end of the year.. Hard to believe! I don't really feel like this year is already over. I'm definitely curious if Sydney will keep its promise and give me the most beautiful and impressive New Year's Eve ever!

Today is December 31, 2016, and it's chaos here in Sydney! For us, it means going to the laundromat this morning, because the washing machine in our apartment is full of mold... that's what you get when you choose a men's shared flat. The rest of the time, we used to take a closer look at the area around the Harbour Bridge (the Rocks) and the Harbour Bridge itself. And yes, it's true - the masses are camping all over the harbour for the best view of the fireworks, unbelievable!!!!! I'm very glad that we have tickets for the Harbour Party at Luna Park, an amusement park on the harbour with a view of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. We're getting ready now and it's not long until 2017...
