#49 Epiphany - Day of Gifts

Publicados: 13.01.2022

January 6, 2022: Sitges

F. The route between Castelldefels and Sitges is a road with beautiful views, provided you take the coastal road and not the highway through the mountains. The road runs along the edge of the mountains that go directly into the sea. This cliff road is characterized by numerous curves and small ascents and descents. Despite this challenging route, there is always a lot going on here. (We have driven this route 3 times) Today, on January 6th - a national Spanish holiday - there were particularly many cyclists here and there were sometimes long lines of cars behind one or the other group of cyclists. So there was plenty of time to take some photos during the ride.

Sitges was also quite busy due to the holiday. The cafes and restaurants on the promenade were crowded and there were many people walking through the city. Some of them had just bought a Roscón de reyes (Three Kings' Cake), which is usually a cake ring filled with cream or chocolate and traditionally eaten in Spain on Three Kings' Day.

Sitges is also visited as a day trip by many visitors to Barcelona. For the average tourist who is only in a foreign country or a foreign area for a short time, Sitges has everything the tourist heart desires. A small old town with a few old houses, a small sailing port, a very long sandy beach, a lot of shops, and many restaurants on the promenade. However, if you do not want to stay on the beach or go shopping extensively, you can walk through the city completely in less than an hour and see everything.

After visiting Sitges, we continued south and just before our parking space for the night, we passed under the railway line. The tunnel looked too cute not to take a photo of it. The tunnel is of course open to traffic in both directions. 😉

Day 83 - Total tour 5,035 km
