Finally, we were reunited, all four together.
By now, we are experts in online school lessons. In our great apartment, we had plenty of space to organize ourselves. The school makes the biggest effort to support us as best as possible. All subjects must be covered. From music to French. But as a 'family' team, we managed everything.
Time passed. At the beginning, everything was different here. Fewer people on the streets. Everywhere, there were temperature checks and distancing lines. It was no longer allowed to be outside without a face mask. But the restaurants and cafes opened again. With social distancing measures, of course, but that was no problem. We enjoyed going to 'Baker & Spice' for a delicious breakfast or to 'Hulu' for lunch.
In addition, all parks were open again. So, we went to Chaoyang Park once a week by bike. However, there were no boats on the water or amusement rides yet. But frisbee, soccer, or bouncing a ball provided the necessary exercise and distraction.
Peking is slowly awakening from the shock of the corona.
So, we went out for a weekend to the Expo Park. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to go during the expo period, but the park was still great. We explored the park with cool bikes. We had delicious Chinese noodles for lunch again. Many people were out and about. However, the area is so big that we didn't manage to see everything.
The weather got warmer and we also biked to Ritan Park. A smaller but beautiful park with lots of greenery and sports equipment.
April came, and we had completed nine weeks of online school. The holidays began.
We were a little disappointed because we actually wanted to be home for Easter. Spend a week at the riding stable and be together with grandma and grandpa for Easter.
But things have also changed in Germany since mid-March. Corona has now spread worldwide. We never thought that would be possible. While everyday life is slowly returning here in China, Germany is in an absolute lockdown to protect the population and contain the virus. The borders are closed worldwide. We now hope for positive news from home and the containment of the virus.
We spent the holidays in sunny weather in Beijing. Enjoyed being together. We spent the Easter time traditionally German, from Easter crafts to making Easter braids. Of course, also with homemade eggnog; the Easter Bunny also found his way here.
We believe that in April, thanks to the border closures and the low number of corona infections, everyday life is progressing rapidly.
We continue to stick together and keep our fingers crossed for our home and the whole world. That we will overcome this crisis with solidarity and compliance with the measures that have been put in place.
Stay healthy and hang in there.
