Tag 1/2 - Arrival

Publicados: 19.01.2017

After the absolute disaster happened yesterday (almost missed the flight because the gate was changed and nobody informed me), I have safely arrived in Bangkok. On the flight itself, I managed to secure a seat on the aisle through a small exchange and ended up sitting next to Nicole, because the obnoxious English girls had to sit together. Nicole seems to fly to Asia about 70 times a year and was able to answer about 95% of my questions, explain to me what this strange visa thing for Thailand is all about, and tell me that my luggage will be flown directly to Krabi. Great shit, I need shorts.

Based on her tips, I am now considering flying to Cambodia and then returning via Bangkok. (Those temples must be extraordinary.) But well, let's see, first the beach.

In addition, we could amuse ourselves about the fat English woman behind us, who was being babied by the two more or less toothless people in front of us. Maybe Brexit has something good after all. 😄

Now I'm just hanging out here at the airport again, and after walking through the same small area of the airport about 5 times now, I sat down and wrote down some impressions on demand. I'm still doing fine, I slept a lot. But I'm starting to need the beach. My water is from the King Power brand. Hail the King, and so on.

Currently, I'm sitting at the gate and thinking about my observations:

Everyone, even in Frankfurt, thinks of me for everything but a German, it's quite funny. I've already allowed myself a joke or two by using unclear pronunciation or facial expressions that pretend that I didn't understand what the gentlemen want from me. Too bad I'm traveling alone, but you know, I can entertain myself alone as well. So I fooled a few gentlemen at the security checkpoint... hence: explosives test.

It's worth mentioning that most Asians (except the aggressive ones at passport control) are very friendly and helpful, especially when you simply smile at them. I know, that's nothing new, but I just had a fight with an ATM and was saved by Mulan.

Of course, they are also hardworking, which was a bit annoying on the plane. Precise like Germans, diligent like Asians, resulting in a hectic flight attendant = I wake up.
