Lynn Peak, Vancouver

After a week in urban Vancouver, I had to let off steam in nature around Vancouver on the weekend. That's where the request to go to Lynn Peak came in handy.

Lynn Peak is located in North Vancouver. Despite its proximity to the big city, you quickly get the feeling of being in the wilderness here.

The hike starts at the entrance to Lynn Canyon Park. From here, you have to overcome about 750 meters of altitude. At the entrance, attention is drawn to the fact that bears and mountain lions could be present in the area. But you practically encounter this signage everywhere here in Canada. After a few steps, you are in a completely different world, far away from the city. It goes over a rocky path through the forest, which appears much greener than the forest I know in Switzerland. Theoretically, it is also a rainforest. The path becomes steeper and the trees bigger, because the trees in the lower regions were all cut down once. After a hike of about three hours, we reached Lynn Peak. Here, you have a wonderful view of the suburbs of Vancouver. During our lunch, two squirrels are fighting with two crows for a few nuts. But the little rodents are going at it pretty hard and flying through the air wildly. 1:0 for the rodents. After we have eaten our fill and seen enough, we descend back down through the beautiful forest.

Once we reach the bottom, we decide to take a short detour to Rice Lake. The timing is perfect and the lake looks like something out of a picture book. Now I just have to get from North Vancouver to Surrey where I am staying with a host family. The stupid thing is that the distance couldn't be greater. The journey takes me about two hours with the public transport system, which, by the way, is first class here in Vancouver.
