Day 2 in the Kalahari
Today we were awakened by the rising sun shining into our window through our 3D real live HD “TV”.
The whole thing was acoustically supported by a male wildebeest in heat. It sounded similar to a very loud burp...
It's a good thing we men haven't adopted this behavior. Just imagine it 🤦♂️🫣
Then it was time for breakfast. Although I could still use a little more sleep, my body needs to slowly get used to the intake of Amarula again 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤷
We had breakfast on the terrace of the main house.
Here too there was zero
to suspend👍
Afterwards we sat on the fat bikes in the lounge and explored the Kalahari by bike.
You can do it, but it's not particularly spectacular.
Then we did what we are experts at… nothing!!!
I always say:
How quickly nothing is done!!!
One of them caught up on some sleep on their own terrace, another took on the task of photographing and naming every animal that came to the waterhole. Another worked on his tan or simply enjoyed the wonderful view.
After that it was time to slowly get the body back up and running again.
The pool was perfect for this!
Our sundowner safari started promptly at 5pm. Johannes is our patient guide! And he will need patience on this tour!
We climb into the first of the back seats in the Land Rover Defender.
Two retired couples from Swabia will accompany us on the tour!
Anyone who knows Hummeldumm can now imagine Gruberin's raisin head and Seppelpeter in Swabian.
One pensioner insists on sitting in the passenger seat!
He assures us that any other seat in the vehicle would make him feel sick and would definitely throw up.
🫣🫣😂
One of the pensioners sits behind me on the right.
This is testing my patience.
Whenever I see an animal, be it a ground squirrel, antelope or oryx, her index finger shoots past my ear like an arrow... look there... it's amazing, look how the little creature runs!
Look how it jumps!
Oh my, that's sweet!!!
Or there, a giraffe…amazing!
The whole thing was accompanied by the beeping of her camera 🤦♂️
Well, when we later , at the
sundowner drink, learn that the lady has been looking forward to this holiday for 48 years, our initial smile fades over the comments about the critters 😉
How did we feel when we saw our first zebra live!???
Afterwards we went directly to the
Dinner, this time too it was perfect.
But somehow we were all knocked out today and didn't stick to the officially prescribed dosage of Amarula and went to bed early.
Tomorrow a long and challenging route to Wolvedans awaits us 💪
Lots of unpaved roads and let's see what else!
Good night Africa!
