And just like that, it was the weekend again. Saturday was supposed to be a very cozy one. So we went to the beach in the morning and built everything out of sand that Frederik currently finds particularly interesting: crocodiles, manatees, cars, and boats. Of course, cooling off in between was also a must.
Very exhausted from all this work, the little one took a long nap.
After lunch, we went to play and romp - for Frederik - back to the indoor playground, where he enjoys himself very much, but unfortunately never really comes into contact with the other children. That makes us all a bit sad. I always thought that language doesn't matter when it comes to children playing together. Unfortunately, he had the same experience in Ireland. One of the reasons why we are looking forward to being back home with family and friends soon. Frederik especially misses social contact with other children.
Since our time here is now coming to an end, the question arose of what to do with all the purchased children's things like crib, high chair, etc. That's when we stumbled upon a children's second-hand shop just around the corner from us, which also rents out all these things. A good idea too!! So if you travel with a child, it might make it easier if you have this option. It's worth a try.
The next day, we made the decision to leave our accommodation in Naples on Monday afternoon to explore a bit further into the country. So we spent the morning leisurely in the pool, packed some things into the suitcases, and after the nap and lunch, the final of the European Championship was already on.
Since it rained in the afternoon, we had to come up with something new and built a cave and flipped through books.
To round off our time here, we wanted to enjoy one last sunset and after dinner, despite the dark clouds, we went to the beach. In the days before, it had only rained in the afternoon, so we thought it would be okay... Well, never think you've thought... We arrived at the beach and 5 minutes later, it started pouring rain.
So, everyone with child and baggage back into the car. Trying to pass the time by driving around and waiting seemed too risky to us since Frederik really likes to fall asleep in the car. So we preferred to drive back to the apartment and the little one went into the bathtub with his head down and I sat next to him with my head down. This is not how you imagine your last evening.
We spent Monday morning in chaos in the apartment, pulling everything out of every corner and drawer again and packing it up sensibly for the onward journey. Only with the small difference that there was now a lot more than when we arrived.
In parallel, we cleaned the apartment and tried to keep Frederik busy and in a good mood. Because he didn't like what was going on at all. He just couldn't make sense of it. And what does that mean for such a young child? Right! Look for security and the best place to find it is on mommy's arm... have you ever packed a suitcase or cleaned the bathroom with a heavy child on your arm? It's really not easy with one arm. Good thing that neither Marius nor I care about wrinkles in our clothes. 😉 Frederik could only sleep for 30 minutes due to excitement - something might happen without him. Patience and spitting, calmness and coziness... We summoned all the good spirits until we finally stuffed everything into the car and found a seat ourselves.
We set off towards the north. Together with a heavy thunderstorm... From our hotel window, we can observe impressive lightning constructions in the dark sky and almost feel the thunder. Frederik was really impressed and didn't say a peep for minutes.
Our destination for one night is TAMPA. We will continue in the morning. You will find out where in two days. 😉
I hope to be able to report more interesting stories then. 😊👍
