Tofino a dream

Publicados: 22.09.2016

We took our time on the way from Victoria to Tofino. There's Schoner Cove Beach, where the sea recedes a kilometer at low tide. The sea reveals many secrets, and they were visible on the beach. We met locals and asked them what they were looking for. They showed us beautiful sand dollars and taught us how to keep live crabs and what to look for when taking dead sand dollars. So we also looked for sand dollars and found some.

Cathedral Grove with its giant cedars, which are over 800 years old, was also very impressive. It's part of McMillan Provincial Park. There are smaller circular paths that can be comfortably walked. This little detour was definitely worth it.

The restaurant with the goats on the roof was funny. We had a drink and watched the goats. In the store, we bought a bread and spicy salsiccia. We conquered a few fresh apples at the market stall.

In the evening, we arrived at the Middle Beach Lodge. A beautiful place to unwind. We bought a bottle of wine and enjoyed it with the bread and salsiccia. The sunset was a dream.

The next morning, we had to get up early because we had booked a bear-watching tour. We went by boat into small bays and could watch the bears turning over stones on the beach to find and eat crabs. We saw six bears, it was truly breathtaking to observe the animals undisturbed. The rancher could tell us a lot about the bears and we learned a lot again. Afterwards, we still went to Ucluelet and took a short walk to the lighthouse.

In the evening, we went to the restaurant 'Wolf in the fog', a very trendy place in Tofino.

Unfortunately, the next day was foggy. We went to a viewpoint, but unfortunately, the fog had not yet cleared. In the info center, there was a film about humpback whales and salmon, which was very informative. For dinner, we went to the pub 'Waterfront Jack's Dining'. It didn't feel like a pub, but the food was very good. Unfortunately, this is already the last evening in this beautiful place.
