Haka Village

Publicados: 05.08.2019

The penultimate stop in mainland China was in the small village of Hongkeng, known for its buildings: the Haka houses.

These multi-family houses have room for about 40 families each! But they are not only houses for living, they are also built to defend against wild animals and other attackers.

All day long we could explore the village and visit cultural heritage sites. We also spent the night in a slightly smaller Haka house that had been converted into a restaurant. This made us feel even more connected to the culture.

Of course, one of the things that is also part of Chinese culture is the tea ceremony. We also had the opportunity to enjoy one. :)

It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while and relax in nature. Although the mountain villages here cannot compare with the idyllic ones in Switzerland.
