Day 14: from Ohlau to Annaberg

Respect for the staff at the hotel in Ohlau: although there was a big family celebration last night (which we didn't hear anything about on the 3rd floor), everything was ready again for breakfast this morning.

Our route takes us to Opole, which, as we all know, is the home of Miroslav Klose, who played for the national team back when we could still win.

Opole and the surrounding area is the center of the German minority in Poland. Recently, there have also been bilingual signs (in places with a German-speaking population of > 20%).

Many of the farms and houses make you feel like you are traveling back in time; in fact, little has changed there in 80 years.

From Oppeln we continue towards Annaberg, the Silesian pilgrimage site, which was built in the 15th/16th century and was the basis for "copies" such as Annaberg in Haltern, which the refugees visited after the war.

The Holy Mass (in Polish) was characterized by a fascinatingly long, incredibly soporific sermon (22 minutes), which made it difficult for us non-Polish speakers to keep our eyes open. However, if you looked at the Polish visitors, you could also see the effect.
