Sky Car Gondola & Tawai Falls

It gets pretty cold in the camper at night too, so I wake up coughing and freezing, let's see how it goes tonight, I'll put on more layers ;)

Today we went to the Sky Waka Gondola and up Mount Ruapehu. Not exactly cheap, but a nice view - the clouds hung beautifully over the valley. We did the Skyline Walk. It was a tough one: 3 km and 276 m, we made it up to 2200 m in about 45 minutes. Our Scherpa Benny took over my backpack - it helped a lot. The mountain covered with lava stones and the view of Mount Doom at the top with a bright sky was something. On the way back we realized that we were really walking through Mordor, I slipped several times, like Sam ;) Fortunately, B had E in the carrier in the front and the backpack in the back to compensate.

Then there were more Lord of the Rings filming locations: We walked to Tawhai Falls, aka Gollum's Pool. Where Sméagol sings so beautifully “on the table today there is a fish so juicy and sweet”.

Back at the campsite we treated ourselves to a nice shower and cooked something nice: we had spaetzle with schnitzel. With E we first romped around outside and made a flower chain and then moved the whole thing into the camper early on.
