Days 41-43 - 10/20/22/23
At some point I miscounted. If you take 09.09.23, the day of our departure, as “ZERO”, then we have already reached the 43rd day (wine).
In any case, we were now in Marahau and went on a hike there, the starting point of which could only be reasonably reached via a boat trip (clever business idea). The boat was on a trailer and this was pulled by a tractor and brought into the water with us (on the boat). From there we started the quick journey (approx. 45 minutes) to our starting point. After a 3.5 hour hike (with a break), we were picked up at the destination and brought back by boat.
The 3.5 hour hike made us quite tired and so the after-work beer on our terrace tasted twice as good.
After watching the second half of the semi-final game between New Zealand and England for breakfast yesterday morning (Saturday), we headed to the northernmost beach, about 2 hours' drive away, Wharariki Beach (gorgeous weather, lots of sheep).
On the way there we stopped in the chilled out towns of Takaka and Collingwood and enjoyed the hippie flair, which is already quite capitalistic here.
Today's Sunday was once again more of a travel day that took us through the mountainous landscape to Saint Arnaud, where we ended the day and will continue our journey tomorrow.
By the way: a hairdresser is slowly becoming necessary for both of us.
I'm getting closer to the Günter Netzer hairstyle and Karin isn't really happy with her hair anymore either.
