After all the organization, we're finally setting off - and we're excited!! And also a little nervous, whether everything will work out with the PCR test and the different entry documents. Currently, there are no direct flights, which is why we'll be staying overnight in Johannesburg. The next morning, we'll continue on to Windhoek. Everything went smoothly - we're here!! We'll be picked up from the airport by our car rental and taken to the company, where our Toyota Hilux is already waiting for us. We'll spend a whole 4 hours there - signing contracts, watching a safety video, and - by far the longest part - getting all sorts of information about the car, the roof tent, what to do if we get stuck, how much pressure the tires should have on normal/gravel and sand roads, and and and. Our heads are spinning.
It's also an automatic car, which is why we're initially a bit nervous, but Flo has already mastered the previous drives with an automatic and left-hand traffic brilliantly. I'll give it a try for the first time today 🙊. Yesterday, we gathered some more information and decided to head north first. We wrote a ridiculously long shopping list and spent almost 4 hours in various shops to get everything. Super mega exhausting! But: now we can get started! We'll now calmly pack everything together, have breakfast, and then it's time to say: Hello Namibia camping adventure!! 🛣️🛻⛺
Highlights: Eating burgers and settling Flo's bets 😜, enjoying the first real (not instant) coffee after 5 weeks, the small shopping carts in the supermarket, the German products on the supermarket shelves
