Early in the morning at half past 5 we were woken up. We were not yet aware of what was coming.
The Watt.....
....an incredible landscape
....full of mysterious creatures.
After getting ready at 7 o'clock with the Watt guide Gerke, we marched through the North Sea without water: the Watt.
The whole thing looked bleak and desolate. But appearances were deceiving. Behind the barrenness lay a habitat full of fascinating creatures.
We discovered a 5-star oyster, a Glupschi, a worm that eats sand and much more....
The creatures not only looked great, but also tasted very good to some of us...😋
After the hike we had enough of mud and slime as we sank deep into the mud several times.
At the end of our Watt hike a dreamlike island awaited us, with a powdered sugar sandy beach.
There we immediately jumped into the meter-high waves to free ourselves from the mud....
This exhausted us sooo much that we treated ourselves to a little refreshment.
Actually, we wanted to walk the 8 km back through mud and slime, but once again the North Sea foiled our plans...
....because suddenly the water was back.
Unfortunately, we had to bite the bullet and squeeze into the ferry like sardines in a can to go back.
This was a long day...
.....after the mosquitoes bothered us in the evening on the campsite, we retreated to our tents to sleep.
