Trogir, Split and Camp Sirena

Publicados: 10.04.2021

On Easter Sunday, the little gift from my parents was opened. The Kinder Eggs didn't last long. Traditionally, we had Easter bread for breakfast.

On Monday afternoon, we continued to Primosten. It reminded us a little of Rovinj. A former fishing village that was only accessible by boat until a few hundred years ago. Then they built a dam to make it easier to reach their apartments. The first day was very sunny, as Easter Monday is also a holiday in Croatia, so it was correspondingly crowded. We had a pizza and enjoyed the sun. We spent the night by the roadside. Not very noisy, as the village was not big. The next morning, we were woken up by clouds. Shortly after, it started raining. Rain and bad weather all day. A short walk and then back in the bus. Around 8pm, it started hailing lightly. We heard that it even snowed in parts of Croatia. However, the cold night passed quickly. A very nice little place that you wouldn't think of. However, a lot is being done to change that soon. Only 4 years ago, a statue was erected for pilgrims and now an underwater tunnel with a restaurant is being built (60m long, 6m wide, and 18m under the sea level).

The next day, we drove to Trogir, also a peninsula. "The Old Town" was not very lively, so after 2 hours, we continued to Split. On the way there, passing by the airport and small villages that all seemed the same. We drove to a spot that we had also visited back then. Here we had lunch and took a walk. Many people, many dogs, lots of sun, and lots of wind. We drove to the marina of Split, where we want to spend the night. The area looked inviting, so we explored the area again and watched the sunset. Another parking lot, so many cars that come here, parked for 15-20 minutes, and then left again. Whether it was the view or a meeting of the youth who found it boring at home? One can only guess...

The next morning, we walked from the overnight spot about 20 minutes into Split. All the shops, restaurants, bakeries, markets, and bars were open. Such a nice feeling. The people were very relaxed and despite being in a big city, had a certain calmness. With a coffee in hand, we walked through the streets and alleys. We walked along the sea and discovered the bay where Chris had walked alone back then. (I was sick in bed in 2019)

For lunch, we had a vegetarian burger in the sun and for a snack, a coffee in the old cathedral. Around 5pm, we walked back to the car and spent another night here.

The next morning, we drove to a nearby beach to walk back into Split again for breakfast. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the city and around noon, we went to Camp Sirena. Very nice and helpful hosts. A great view and wind. Among the campers were four Germans, one Frenchman, one Swiss, and another motorhome.

Happy weekend!
