Jack’s Beach & Jack’s Blowhole

Publicados: 24.04.2024

Welcome Back Jack,

I already told you in the last post that it was just a stopover and that I was on my way to another beach or beautiful place.

On the way to Jack's Blowhole I once again met a great singer who really tried hard to impress me with his melody on the branch. Jack's Blowhole is a collapsed tongue of water formed by the sea that extends up to 200 meters inland. When there is a storm or there are really big waves, the water can splash up to the surface. That's where the name of this place comes from.

The track is really beautiful and also only takes about an hour. The track goes over fields and past sheep and the hiker can always see the view of the nearby beaches to a certain extent.

Dinner

After the two runs, I treated myself to dinner with a view and then drove back to the campsite to take a shower and then fall into bed, pretty exhausted.

The next morning it was raining, so I used the time to do a little organizational stuff and plan my further trip. I had actually planned to go to Stewart Island, but the ferry to the island costs a whopping 220 NZD and the accommodation was fully booked for 2 weeks. And it wasn't exactly cheap either. So I scrapped the plan and drove to Invercargill to see how the weather would develop and where it would take me next. While I was planning this, I met another traveler who gave me a tip for the trip, so I stopped at McLeans Waterfall on the way to Invercargill.

I will show you the pictures of this waterfall in the middle of the jungle in the next post.

Until then,
Your Britta
