As planned, today started at the climbing rock. The 15 routes are only 2km outside of Kardamili. With a view of the sea and the beautiful landscape, this climbing area has a lot to offer.
After the climbing session, we went straight to the sea for a refreshment in the cool, clear water. Fantastic. The weather today is also really summery. The sun and the blue sky, combined with the many beautiful plants, make this place a little paradise.
We thought the same in the evening, when the sun slowly set and we went for a short walk to an old church, which was located right above our 'parking lot'. The view over the lovely houses of Kardamili, with all the beautiful vegetation and the sea on the horizon, is truly enchanting.
For further descriptions and raving, I am running out of words, but I think that's enough. Although words like: picturesque, unique, magnificent, etc. are truly applicable here, I also have the feeling that these very positive descriptions lose a little bit of meaning the more often you use them. Which doesn't necessarily mean that something bad or negative should happen again, but maybe at least a little something to complain about. Too beautiful can also be boring. A real luxury problem.
Actually, I thought I was German enough to have something to complain about. Just 2 degrees more and there would at least be a reason to complain about the heat. But no. It's just beautiful here. Very beautiful. Idyllic. Picturesque. Unique.
Although when looking at the pictures, I did wonder for a moment what the hell is going on with these skulls and bones. In one of the rooms near the church, these human remains were lying there. Yuck. What's that all about? It's not only pretty creepy but also slightly disgusting. I can't explain it, which is probably good because I would like to sleep tonight.
Kardamili gets at least one point deduction because of this. It can happen so fast. After all, not everything that glitters is gold... to finish off the post today with a great proverb.
